Whether it's a hot summer day, a grey autumn afternoon or a starry evening, Padule of Fucecchio always charms and surprises visitors.
Thanks to the staff and collaborators of the Padule of Fucecchio Research, Documentation and Promotion Centre, inside Italy's largest inner marsh, there is access to the new Castelmartini Visitor Centre: the latter hosts a permanent exhibition on the wetland and temporary exhibitions of photography and naturalistic drawing.
From the Visitor Centre, it is not difficult to reach, on foot or by bike, the area of Le Morette: here you will find a wildlife observatory always accessible to the public, not only fans of birdwatching and naturalistic photography, but also the simply curious, all will be able to admire some of the many migratory species of birds (over 200 arrive here during the year) present in this natural environment. The passage of migration, together with the cyclical alternation of periods of dry and full, still accentuates the natural rhythm of the seasons: an aspect of the Marsh that is appreciated only with visits repeated over time.
The Research, Documentation and Promotion Centre offers many opportunities to be emerged in the atmosphere of nature, to learn about its history and wildlife features: among the main nature and historical-environmental excursions; visits to the area of Le Morette, and the discovery of local flora and fauna with birdwatching stops; as well as those in the Righetti area; an area of great landscape and environmental interest. There are also "night" trips designed to observe the marsh and its inhabitants at a particularly interesting time. There are also numerous itineraries in the environments close to the wetland and the routes focused on local history and traditions. All visits are carried out with an environmental guide.
